The Spartan Race
The Spartan Race is quickly becoming one of the most popular individual and team races across the entire country. This race is a test of physical fitness, mental toughness, and courage.
What is the Spartan Race?
The Spartan Race was designed by seven crazy athletes and a Royal Marine. This is an obstacle course like no other out there. You can’t compare this to anything you have heard of, not mud runs, trail races, tough mudder, they all pale in comparison to this experience. Not only does this race test your strength, stamina, and resilience, but also tests your decision making and ingenuity.
Who Were The Spartans?
The Spartans are from ancient Greece and from childhood they were raised to be soldiers, loyal to the state, strong and self-disciplined. At the age of 7 boys were taken from their mother’s by soldiers and housed in dormitories and trained to be warriors. The boys were trained to endure the worst and ignore pain. They would be forced to march without shoes and would often go days without food. The Spartans believed this would make them hardened warriors who were trained to show no signs of pain or weakness. The toughness and unwillingness to quit of the Spartans is why this race got its name.
